Are you serious??

Recently I have been doing some research into what I do most days of the week - email marketing - and I discovered something quite amazing.

I discovered I wasn't being that serious about email marketing.

Email marketing is something I thought I took very seriously and I am very enthusiastic about. However, during my research I discovered a whole new level of email marketing I didn't know I didn't know about.

This was HUGE to me and I realised I could get more serious about what I do, and I thought, I wonder if other people know there could be a whole new level to what they do that might make it even more exciting. That could turn something that has become so so into something you can't stop talking about.

This week Google what you do, sign up for some newsletters and start researching your industry. The "recession" is bringing out the creativity in the world. Join in, get serious, get creative and you will enjoy what you do and be more successful.

You might have seen this but ...

This video has been around for awhile and was recently updated.

The stats are mind blowing and inspirational.

I have put it here so I can watch it everyso often because it inspired me all over again today.

Maybe you will too.

The miracle that is you.

Over the weekend I read an article in the NZ Herald about the Human Genome Project. The purpose of which was to "determine the sequence of chemical base pairs which make up DNA and to identify the approximately 20,000-25,000 genes of the human genome from both a physical and functional standpoint".

One outcome of the project was that they now know there are 25,000 - 30,000 genes in the human genome.

Another was that they are still no nearer to knowing how we work. Why things happen in our brain to allow us to see when there is nothing that gathers all the millions of bits of information into one place.

You are a miracle. From the time a spark tells you to wake up in the morning and grab breakfast, to the energy in muscles that lets you to jump over puddles, you are a miracle.

Remember that. This is not mumbo jumbo or hairy fairy stuff. Scientifically you are a miracle and do great things.

Fitness Life magazine has received high praise from FITNESS NZ, who have voted it the best health and fitness publication in the southern hemisphere..

Great job Tania and Mark!

Fitness Life Magazine have just received a fantastic endorsement from Fitness New Zealand. I have known the people (Tania and Mark) behind this magazine for sometime now and this is a great testament to how hard they work to promote the fitness industry and healthy living.

Be realistic Glenn

There is a phrase that really annoys me - be realistic. Todays MondayMotivator is going to be a little bit of a rant about the destruction wrought by that seemingly innocuous phrase.

Words are powerful. Words stir emotions. Words change lives. Words misused are like daggers to the heart, deadly.

Yes we can! Barack Obama's simple catch phrase moved a nation. Time for change moved ours.

Did being realistic get you to where you are today? I suspect for some it might. My question is why? Why did you allow yourself to be fettered by those who would see you grounded. Live by the words of those who would give you wings and be unrealistic. The world is changed by unrealistic people. Bill Gates had a vision of a computer on every desk and in every home. Would computer technology be where it is today if he had been realistic?

Be realistic. When you hear that phrase or it comes from your mouth, pause, think why am I saying this or why is this person saying it to me. It only takes a second but that second is enough to shield you from its harm.

Why I write

After last weeks MondayMotivator I got some excellent feedback about how you think. That then got me thinking about why I write the MondayMotivator. I made a few notes during the week and came up with the following.

First and foremost I write the MondayMotivator to get me thinking every week. Doing this sometimes helps me come up with answers to whats going on in my life.

Then I edit my thoughts and put it in this email for you to read and think about. That's the hardest part. Getting a thought across in as few words as possible without diluting my point.

Why do I want you to think? Thinking can be fun, creative, give you clarity and help you come up with solutions. Someone once said that thinking is one of the hardest things to do and that is why so few people do it. Take time to think.

The other reason I write is that I wish for you is for you to grow. To grow as a human. To grow and be bigger and more unfettered than you thought you could ever be. Not be like a Bonsai Tree that grows but is strangled and stymied by both its container and by constant pruning and training.

What I write might not be in agreeance with your world view all the time but it hopefully makes you pause and think and create a neural pathway in your brain you might explore at a later date.

We are here to grow and thinking is the one sure way I know of that can help with that.

Have a terrific week.
